In my works on paper, I like to
portray the linear forms of tree trunks and boughs interacting with the
fluid forms of leaves in sunlight and shade. What is left
untouched in these works becomes just as important as what is
painted. The openness between the forms taking on an energy and
awareness all it’s own. This space does not seem empty, but
instead appears to surround and complete what is near.
I have been
thinking about how we are all connected. I believe there is
energy flowing through all things- whether it is rock, tree, sky or
human. This has led me to look at my choice to paint the forest
landscape as an expression of a worldview of joyful interdependence.
